Shows to keep a relationship together

One of the cardinal sins in a 21st century relationship must surely be watching a show solo if its one you typically watch as a couple. Streaming Cheaters are the worst. I can only shake my head. Apparently it is not uncommon. As of February 2017, Netflix Cheating is on the rise.

When I was out of town, my guy cheated on me with Game of Thrones. GoT!  Apparently 45% of the population hide their nefarious behaviour. My guy however was shameless, and is part of the 81% who cheat more than once. Some people believe that if you fall asleep and your partner continues to watch, that constitutes cheating. I find that a bit harsh, bit it reinforces  the need to find a show where there is plenty of common interest. Enough to keep you awake and keep a relationship strong. The kind of show like Fake or Fortune.

Journalist Fiona Bruce teams up with art expert Philip Mould on BBC’s Fake or Fortune

One part detective suspenser, one part Antiques Road Show, and one part art history lesson, F&F provides seven seasons of relationship-reinforcing viewing. Perhaps there are those out then who don’t find this show  addictive.  Admittedly it does become a tad formulaic, and at moments feels uncomfortably staged, but for the most part Philip and Fiona are engaging presenters. In each episode, Philip and Fiona attempt to prove the provenance of a previously unattributed or considered spurious work of art. There’s the thrill of the chase, the warm after glow when a deserving owner is vindicated (morally and financially) and the agony of defeat when a prime candidate goes down in flames. Which shockingly,  actually happened literally with one work deemed a forgery. I won’t spoil the suspense by telling you which one. Fiona and Phillip let us viewers become comfortable fellow travellers with them through the art world and its a load of vicarious fun. Phillip opens almost every door he knocks on, getting public galleries and private owners to open their vaults and allow him to do side by side analysis of their paintings along with the art of the day.

This series is imminently bingeable. The only downside is that right now,  Netflix Canada has only one season of F&F (the fourth) available. (TVO is currently airing season 5). The other seasons are out there, but you will need to be a good  sleuth of the interwebs to find them. I cross my fingers that the 8th season is soon in the works.
